I think over a long time to award this performance or not. CD sing this sing many times and many way in studio and for live audience. But for me this significantly different what I never see before or after.
The song written in near gospel style and bind to CD. Message in is little bit vague.
Many devotee of CD imagine the singer in a cage of a show, where all tone and movement predesigned. There is no freedom of art. But few times somebody forgot to lock door of this cage. If it is happened, then CD got a "free space" for performance to free all of own emotions, break its own barrier and transmit feeling of a song to audience like never before or after. Other words, this performance is some kind of CD "free and fun" performance.
But this and only this performance of a song are exceptional. Exceptionally free most energy and emotion of CD and found public (not backstage) contact with dancers and audience. This song was last official of a concert with background vocals and dancers. In this way the song is able to unlock most energy of a leading vocal, dances and the band. Moreover there is a small amount of humour and impishness in this performance. But in this way song "command your feet to dance", and you sing and dance up to late night. And in this way is perfect to be a "grand finale" song of this concert.
Exceptionally cloth, makeup and hair of CD was well designed to this performance (song). Well reflect dance, humour, impishness and a little craziness.
Performance of audio and video recording is quality. The video crew fund the right angle-moment and well cover imperfect moments of a stage. The video recording found some kind of synchronity with the song rhythm. The video editing always found the movement on a stage. In this way exceptionally(?) never brake flow of a music at picture level. Moreover in this way well reflect atmosphere of a concert hall.
And finally just as remark: CD´s concert in Boston at 2008 was a best ever CD live concert we known. So many energy and fire of a real top artist always result a best performance.
This is a real show that using (partial) playback. The overall song & performance & recording not hit level of SoPeRe award, but exceptionally worth SoPeRe special award because its special CD performance as "goodbye" or "grand finale" song. Moreover represent some North American carnival feeling.

The audio recording was very interesting of this performance. The all concert are recoded instrument to mic 1:1. But this encore is use a mass recording of a band and the background vocals. Fortunately this method is transmit felling of a carnival in rich and authentic way and bring it to stage of a concert (by magic). First of all backstage documentary is the only way to decide about real value of an artist. Moreover explain for a concert fun how hard and complex is to make a concert, need how many work of singers, dancers, musicians, stage crew (including audio and video).
The "song" of special award is a selected concert itself. A show "A New Day…" at Caesars Palace is a good example to explain all above.
The "performance" and "recording" of special award is a documentary film itself. For me to view it is some kind of worker obligation. Many backstage documentary film of a world´s greatest singer is in my head. But film of SL are one special way of. Well reflect atmosphere of a concert. Show well many work and workers of. Last but not least explain all fundamentals of CD.
Performance of audio and video recording is quality even if sometimes impossible to solve a task. The IR video recordings on a dark backstage are very impressive.
Moreover a good backstage documentary film is art within art. It is more than 2 hour long therefore this is not for MP3 player. But if you take a time to watch it, then you see a concert from aspect you never see before.
Therefore this film is worth a SoPeRe Special award.

First of all it is very hard to understand this song and its performance. It is little bit strange for North American listener. But it is not necessarily less, can be more than.
The song itself is an award winner one, but my first impression was it is incomplete. The cause maybe the "good is gone" in a lyrics. But after thinking over I must say there is no better word to express "lost everything important of yours". Other words this song is simple enough to carry many emotions.
The recording and performance filled with many failures (band, arrangement, mixing, recording, sync …). This is why very hard to understand it. Then why is in table of SoPeRe award?
The reason is performance of RV! (Un?)fortunately I have a skill to separate (filter) leading vocal in my head, and I can add orchestra to. When I done it a first time, then my impression was: this is an inexperienced performance of a young RV. But after many listening I discover another aspect.
In easy way, this performance of leading vocal (RV´s style) is to shout emotional content of a song with unlimited freedom. This style is strange for a North American listener. But because forgot to think about opera.
For me it was near the most hard decide. How can I explain this? But then I maybe found a way. What you can do if a person close to your heart is leave maybe forever? First you try to stop it softly. Then try it louder and louder and finally you shout "please don´t go". But this person does not turn, just step by step far from you, then you whispering last time "please don´t go".
RV´s speciality is to express this felling hide in a song using all possible dynamic of a human voice at highest artistic level. Use all possible dynamic of a human voice to express emotional content of a song. But not just use it, use it very well at artistic level.
This performance is transmit an extra wide dynamic and emotion span to audience. RV use whispering and shout as artistic expression. During a performance RV take courage to shout "hold on" in a way nobody (including himself) can before or after. And next - as last words of a song - whispering "I´ll never love this way again" as emotional message like greatest singers of a world. Maybe it was extravagance of a young singer or maybe was intentional. Whether or not, RV in this way transmit emotional message of a song to audience in a very high artistic level. If I exclude this "peak", then performance of the all song is remind me to top performance for example of the young Célene Dion. Moreover RV is exclude noise of audience in professional way. Therefore this performance is worth a SoPeRe special award.
It is remarkable, RV perform this song in a black cloth, shoe, hair and with its own black eyes. As contrast, if I compare this with sparkling and glittering colourful "environment" of a today stars, then I would say: this performance of RV was in (much) higher artistic level, where a sparkling and glittering and colouring is RV´s voice and performance.
It is remarkable too, more than 20 year later the young singer Zephanie Dimaranan perform this song close to award winner way of RV ( Click here ).
May in a future there is a technology to filter out unwanted noise of audience and replace a band with quality arranged orchestra. From this time exceptional performance of RV worth not just the SoPeRe award, but can worth all major music award of the world.

Looks like O´G3NE found the solution. O´G3NE probably is one of a best harmony group of turn of XX-XXI century. The "three sister" has exceptional talent for singing in harmony. You can found many analysis from in a internet. The "sisters" add a snippet humour to its performance. Additionally use just own style. The result is exceptional performance of a classic song. This performance is just mostly expose emotional content of this song. But unique style of this performance is worth a SoPeRe special award.
Nobody can recording it

JT always master of song´s performance. For this song use University of Minnesota Marching Band as orchestra. But this band has brass section constructed by hundred of musical instrument. This orchestra provide exceptional background for leading vocal even in large arena. But unfortunately mixing this sound mass with live and playback vocals is near an impossible task. Therefore recoding it by audio is near impossible task.
The audio crew try to do it in a way where the band´s sound mass regulated very quickly (by dynamic compressor). The result is disillusioning. This song can worth a better audio recording if anyone has capability to do it.
SoPeRe award has no "Nobody can recording it" award, therefor this performance are got a Special Award.

The original song is written at 1936 by CP. This song is one of the world historic song. Moreover it is nominated to Academy Award for Best Original Song.
During its near hundred year life this song is performed by many great singer including Frank Sinatra, Tony Bennett, Rod Steward, Diana Krall using different style and arrangement. But no any of them perform this song in an extreme avant-garde way like the award winner one.
Duet of unprofessional singer like NF and SK normally is valueless. But looks like this is one exception. Spirit and mentality of the episode well redefine meaning of a original song. Not just redefine, but give amount of humour and give a new emotional message to. The arrangement and performance shift this 30 sec fragment to a special artistic level. And in this way is worth a SoPeRe special award.
The audio and video recording quality are good. But do not forget what you show is a recording of a recording.

The song itself is a masterwork. The lyrics with refrain "Contigo Aprendí" ("With you I´ve learned") explain many about beauty of close emotional relation. The music is framing well its lyrics and emphasize well emotional message of.
This song is originally belong to LM as performer. But after listening dozens of performances and performers without doubt the best ever vocal performance of this song is the NC´s award winner one. LM´s vocal performance is very good and some way can be base for NC´s performance. But unfortunately LM at some occasion prefer owns style instead flow emotional content of a song. Looks like NC performance has no this kind of mistake. This is shift up to best vocal performance on this song.
But unfortunately arrangement and mixing of is little bit distort this performance toward a commercial product. In this way supress a little bit emotional message of a song.
But why it is got a special award is a fact: one studio resident mosquito destroy the all recording. Funny but the crew dos not detect this problem and issue the recording.

The song itself is a bolero and masterwork from EE. The lyrics fit well to music and can carry many emotional message. Other words it just wait to be extract by performer.
This song is originally belong to GE as performer. But TLB´s performance can worth a special award. It has a near prefect performance together with its band. What missing form is a emotion. And by this way point to most important component of a vocal performance. You can't reach top performance without well formed emotions!
The recording quality (video and audio) is very good. Only remark is the wrong camera angle mostly hide face of leading vocalist (together with mic).
